Marion Coastal Trail

Hallett Cove Trail: Photo by Giselle Bueti

If you live in Adelaide there is no doubt you’ve either attempted Mt Lofty or heard about its relentless trail. Mt Lofty is just one of many scenic trails in Adelaide that will test your fitness and make you feel like you’re about to die.

If you’re looking for something different and just as challenging (or just as painful), then give the Marion Coastal Walking trail a go. Its a 7.2km trail that stretches between Hallett Cove beach and Marion Rocks.

Its slightly easier then Mt Lofty because it’s not as steep, however it runs along cliffs faces and sporadically goes from up to down to flat. And the stairs are a bitch.

The landscape is absolutely worth the pain though. It kinda feels like you’re running along side the edge of the world, because if you look to your side there’s nothing but open sea that stretches off into the never ending distance. And if you’re lucky you might even see a whale, seal or a shark as you’re gasping for air.

So if you’re looking for a tough work out or even just a ‘nice’ stroll along the South Coast of Adelaide, then give the Marion Coastal Walking trail a go.

Tips:
  • Bring a water bottle
  • Give yourself time- it might take a while depending on your fitness
  • If you’re afraid of heights it does get a bit scary in certain sections but then again that could just be me being a pussy.
  • Challenge yourself and run up the stairs- your calves will hurt for days.
  • Start from Hallett Cove Beach, just because it’s really pretty there.

Style Crush: Alexa Chung

She was responsible for starting the Peter Pan collar craze, she made everyone fall in love with Charlotte Olympia’s Kitty Flats, she made Pinafores cool again and smock dress’s an essential wardrobe item. What’s not to love about Alexa Chung?

A big fan of genderless style and tailoring, you’ll often find Alexa sporting loafers or boyish duffle coats. Even when wearing feminine dresses or chiffon tops, she’ll team them with ankle boots or tailored flats, creating a relaxed and effortless look that would make anyone envious.
With a love for velvet, lace, shift dresses and faux fur, Alexa breathes life into vintage looks and makes the old look new. She has become the master of recreating the ‘90s dungarees look; paring overalls with a sheer top and a satchel bag, she can be held accountable for bringing this style back into fashion. And we’re not complaining!

Her motto is ‘wear what you want and wear what suits you.’

(Also she has a Mulberry Bag named after her, jealous!)

Let your Curiosity run wild

Allow your senses to be adventurous and curious to try something out of the ordinary. Brace yourself, forget your health kick, 'cause you're in for a real treat at the Curious Squire. Located in a classy yet laid back atmosphere on O'Connel Street, North Adelaide, it is split as a restaurant and a bar to enjoy the best of both worlds: to dine in for a feast, or to have a greasy feed over a drink or two for a lazy afternoon Sunday sesh.

Here, you can expect a unique range of burgers to pizzas to rare desserts such as nutella pizza and deep fried Oreos. By far, the number one attraction on a visit to Curious Squire is the deep fried Oreos. A strange yet intriguing dessert invention with a looming heart attack risk (but it's definitely worth the risk of momentarily heart failure). Soft, with a slight crunch, and that classic Oreo tang, it's that treat you'll be dying to have on cheat day, for that special occasion or just 'cause you need to fulfil your sweet tooth. It's worth it, it really is.

But wait, it does not stop there. If your a fan of chicken wings, then you're at the perfect place. Curious Squire host the famous chicken wing challenge: 50 chicken wings in 30 minutes. If you succeed in this challenge, you'll receive a t-shirt, your name on the "Wall of Kings" and even your entry fee back. Think you've got what it takes? There's only one way to find out..

Also, there's more. The sliders trio is another feast not to be missed. Three mini burgers including angus beef, wild boar and chicken parmy creates the perfect burger trio combination. Served up on a wooden board and a basket of fries adds a stylish edge yet effortless feel. The plate up, or "board up" in this case, is definitely "Instagram worthy" (note: any avid Instagram user may have already seen a few Curious Squire food posts). However, you may find yourself digging into this burger feast before you even get the chance to "Instagram it".

There are so many more different, mouth-watering menu items to be tasted. Hands down, it is guaranteed that you'll leave with the biggest yet satisfying food baby.

Let your curiosity run wild.

Candidly Nicole

Remember when Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie were best friends and had a so-bad-I-can't-stop-watching reality TV show called The Simple Life? Of course you do, how could anyone forget.

Love it or Hate it, you'd be lying if you said you didn't kinda miss their sassy one liners.

10 years on Nicole Richie's back, and as hilarious as ever in her new web series Candidly Nicole!

Based on her twitter feed, the series follows Nicole as she gives her perspective on everything from relationships, parenting, fashion and the journey to adulthood.

Now a fashion designer and style icon, she's swapped boob tubes for oversized shades, kimono jackets and sleek dresses. Despite completely making over her life and style, she still has that witty, unfiltered sense of humour that we know and love.

My favourite episode so far is ep12 'How Not to pick Up a Guy,' in which Nicole takes her single girlfriend to a wine tasting to try and find a male companion. Cue hilarious misfortunes. Also check out ep18 'Nailed It.'

If you're a fan of Nicole and fashion you'll love Candidly Nicole!

Look at this outfit! How can you not fall in love with her style!?

Flatforms. Your new best friend.

Jess Blakemore 's photo
Imagine this familiar scene:

EXT. HINDLEY STREET- NIGHT.

It's approaching dawn. A girl and her friends are drunk and stumbling down the busy street in search of food or a taxi.

GIRL
My feet are killing me! I'm gonna take off my heels, I don't even care, I'm just going to do it!

FRIEND 1
(with derision)
Don't you dare!

GIRL takes off heels

All of her friends begin BOOING.

END SCENE.

We've all been there. Do yourself a favour, switch to flatform heels.
